It is understood that the transformer loss accounts for about 40% of the transmission and distribution power loss, which has great potential for energy saving. On May 29, 2020, the national standard "Power Transformer Energy Efficiency Limits and Energy Efficiency Grades" (GB 20052-2020) was released, and it will be implemented from June 1 this year. On December 22, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration of Market Supervision, and the National Energy Administration jointly issued the "Transformer Energy Efficiency Improvement Plan (2021-2023)", requiring that by 2023, the energy efficiency standards for high-efficiency energy-saving transformers will be level 1 and level 2. The proportion of power transformers in the grid increased by 10%, and the proportion of new high-efficiency and energy-saving transformers reached more than 75%. According to statistics, there are more than 800 transformers above 110kV in Shenzhen, more than 21,000 distribution transformers, and more than 80,000 user-specific transformers. If all the transformers are upgraded according to the first-class energy efficiency standard, the annual power saving of about 2.3 billion kWh can be achieved, which is roughly equivalent to the current two-year power consumption of the Shenzhen data center.
