A thank-you letter from a Guangxi customer recounts the story of two enterprises working side-by-side to restore power supply following the floods in Guigang. It also serves as a real-world test of the disaster-resistance performance of power distribution equipment.

Behind the 60-hour-submerged equipment lies 28 years of technological innovation and unwavering commitment to quality.
In July this year, Guigang, Guangxi was hit by catastrophic floods. Mud-laden floodwater flooded into the customer’s power distribution room. Two units of SGB14-RL series 3D Wound Core dry-type transformer manufactured by Haihong Electric were submerged for more than 60 hours, with floodwater rising above the top of the transformers. After the flood receded, after-sales technicians from Haihong Electric rushed to Guigang to guide flushing and drying of the transformers. A site comprehensive inspection was carried out before power re-energization. Test results showed all performance parameters of the equipment remained normal. No factory return for repair was required, and the equipment resumed stable operation after re-energization.

The rapid restoration of service stems from 28 years of technical accumulation by Haihong Electric in high-efficiency energy-saving transformers, as well as the practical implementation of its philosophy: Genuineness · Honesty · Sincerity. Genuine materials, proven technologies and sophisticated craftsmanship endow the equipment with superior insulation protection against flood immersion, mud erosion and moisture penetration.
From a Thank-You Letter to Tangible Resilience of the Power Distribution Grid
More than a token of customer recognition, the thank-you letter from Guigang, Guangxi touches on a core theme of power distribution grid development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
The Plan for the Construction of a New-Type Power System for the 15th Five-Year Plan Period explicitly calls for building a robust and resilient power distribution system and comprehensively enhancing the overall disaster-prevention and mitigation capacity of power distribution networks. China Southern Power Grid Company Limited has launched a three-year campaign to strengthen grid framework and shore up weak links for power distribution networks. It aims to markedly boost disaster-resistance and overall service capacity by rolling out batches of safety-resilience reinforcement projects for disaster prevention and mitigation, improving capabilities to cope with natural disasters such as typhoons, ice-snow storms and floods.

Real-world experience from the Guigang floods illustrates that power distribution equipment resilience covers at least three dimensions:
1.Equipment-body resilience: the performance of transformers under extreme conditions, determining whether facilities can be quickly rehabilitated or need full replacement after disasters.
2.Emergency coordination resilience: cross-regional and cross-entity resource allocation and collaborative capabilities, determining emergency repair efficiency.
3.Service-response resilience: full-chain support provided by equipment manufacturers from product delivery to post-disaster restoration, determining the shortest possible time for equipment to resume operation.
Customer trust in Haihong Electric, built through product delivery and post-flood emergency repairs, has been forged amid real-world challenges. This represents the industry ecosystem needed for power distribution grid resilience building under the 15th Five-Year Plan: equipment manufacturers deliver products alongside full-life-cycle technical support; power grid enterprises build grid infrastructure while establishing cross-regional emergency coordination mechanisms; end-users are equipment operators as well as the ultimate arbiters of product quality.
This thank-you letter validates the disaster-resistance performance of 3D Wound Core dry-type transformers and chronicles Haihong Electric’s dedication and emergency support during the floods. Power distribution grid resilience is no abstract concept. It is embodied in every reliably-performing piece of equipment, every responsive service team and every cross-region rescue collaboration. For 28 years, Haihong Electric has stayed focused on one goal: ensuring reliable equipment performance under extreme conditions. This is Haihong’s answer, and also a vivid reflection of China’s power distribution networks advancing toward robustness and resilience.
