Since the onset of the 2026 flood season, persistent heavy rainfall has hit multiple regions across northern and southern China, triggering frequent flood disasters that severely threaten the stable operation of power systems in affected areas. Among all technical requirements, a transformer’s capability to withstand flood-water submersion has become a key performance indicator for flood prevention and disaster mitigation.

For power-consuming scenarios prone to flood disasters, China Southern Power Grid has set clear specifications: SGB-type dry-type transformers are recommended for flood-prone zones, sites with historical waterlogging, or low-lying distribution rooms subject to long-term water immersion. This is not only a tender requirement but also a core standard for power grids to boost disaster-resistance of distribution equipment and safeguard people’s lives and property.

As a benchmark product of SGB dry-type transformers, Haihong Electric’s 3D Wound Core Dry-type Transformer adopts a composite insulation system composed of NOMEX® aramid paper, PIF polyimide film and one-component eco-friendly insulating varnish, acting as a robust "Water-Resistant Armor" to deliver all-round protection for the transformer. Supported by the gold-standard insulation process — vacuum pressure impregnation for the transformer active part, compact and reliable insulation protection is achieved. The 3D Wound Core Dry-type Transformer fundamentally resists flood submersion, silt erosion and moisture penetration, thoroughly addressing long-standing industry pain points of conventional transformers, such as easy damage from water immersion and frequent failures caused by dampness.

Its robust water-submersion resistance has been proven in multiple major flood events, with reliability validated under extreme operating conditions.

Recently, extraordinary floods struck Guigang, Guangxi. The distribution room of a local enterprise suffered extreme water conditions, where the Haihong 3D Wound Core Dry-type Transformer was continuously submerged in muddy floodwater for over 60 hours. After floodwaters receded, Haihong Electric immediately activated its emergency support mechanism. Professional after-sales technicians first guided the customer through emergency equipment cleaning, while technical specialists rushed to the site for comprehensive inspection and testing. Benefiting from the equipment’s outstanding disaster-resistance performance, the overall structure remained intact with no visible damage to core components. Costly factory-return overhaul and complicated on-site disassembly were unnecessary. The transformer operated with even and stable sound without abnormal noise, minimizing production-halt losses and operation-and-maintenance costs for the end user.

Haihong Electric’s proprietary "Water-Resistant Armor" protection technology empowers the 3D Wound Core Dry-type Transformer with outstanding reliability amid floods. Unlike conventional dry-type transformers that are easily damaged or rendered unusable once soaked in water, Haihong Electric keeps real-world application scenarios at the core of its R&D, tackling extreme disaster challenges with solid technologies. Every unit leaving the factory features superior environmental adaptability and disaster-resistance performance.
